"BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD" Gandhi

Last night, while doing some search in the web, my wife found a video that captured her attention because of the beautiful way it was edited and showed it to me. After taking a look, I not only found a beautifully edited and realized video for a shoe making company: I had in front of me a really remarkable social movement that definitely touched my heart! This is the video:

When you have little kids, you get more sensible about how fragile they are and about all of their needs; and having kids or not, there are people that is sensible about them, especially about those in need.

This is the case of Blake Mycoskie, a 33-years-old entrepreneur from Arlington, Texas, who was vacationing in Argentina in 2006 and being there he witnessed the hardships facing lots of children in poverty growing up barefoot and developing cuts and scrapes on their feet that led to serious infections. At the same time, Mycoskie discovered the "Alpargata", a traditional rope-soled shoe that has been worn by Argentina farmers for more than one hundred years.

After that, he returned to California, where he lives now, with 200 pairs of shoes and the idea for a new company, TOMS Shoes. He began producing Argentine-inspired shoes with a one-for-one commitment to match each pair sold with a donated pair to  a child in need. So, after selling the first 10,000 pairs of shoes, Blake returned to Argentina with friends, family, and his new TOM's family to hand-deliver 10,000 pairs of shoes to kids in need.

Then TOMS continued delivering shoes to kids in poverty in other countries around the world, and in September 2010 they gave the One Millionth pair of shoes to a child in need:

This people is really doing a remarkable social work around the globe, and they continue spreading the word everywhere to show what they do and to inspire young people to help make tomorrow better including giving in everything they do.

This year they're having a big campaign to create conscience about people in need:

Actually I'm not doing any kind of advertising for this company. What they do really touched my heart and Blake Mycoskie really seems to me an authentic giver. Today, not much people care about other people in need, especially entrepreneurs that only think about making money. If you want to help, you can purchase something from them and in exchange they are going to give a new pair of shoes to a little one that can't afford them.
